Efficacy of Lower Limb Constraint-Induced Therapy for Hemiplegia in Stroke Patients during Maintenance Period

چکیده
A lower extremity constraint-induced (CI) movement therapy protocol developed at the University of Alabama was used to treat three stroke patients suffering from hemiplegia. Upon intervention, both walking speed and stability improved, reliance on assistance an accompanying individual or support device decreased, improvements standing position during daily activities activity were seen.

Stroke is the most common cause of disability in the adult and elderly population in the world and a major cause of hospitalisation. Long-term motor deficits in stroke patients may be due to ‘learned non-use’, a process enhanced by the teaching of compensatory activity during rehabilitation. Recovery may be improved by constraint-induced movement therapy (CIMT) or ‘forced use’1,2 which involves...
متن کاملEffect of Child Friendly Constraint Induced Movement Therapy on Unimanual and Bimanual Function in Hemiplegia
Objectives: Hemiplegia is a non-progressive damage in premature growing brain which causes movement disorders in one side of the body. The objective of present research is to study the method of modified constraints induced movement therapy (CIMT) which can be appropriate on unimanual and bimanual functions of children with Hemiplegia. Methods: This single-blinded, randomized, control trial ...
متن کاملThe effect of three sessions shock wave therapy on spasticity and range of motion of lower limb in stroke patients
Background: Spasticity is a common motor impairment in patients with stroke that not only has a negative impact on the patient’s quality of life but also has high economic burdens for society. Recently the application of shock wave therapy has attracted considerable attention as a safe and effective method in treatment of spasticity. The objective of the present study was to investigate the eff...

Objective: To investigate the effects of mirror therapy on rehabilitation of lower limb motor functions in patients with stroke hemiplegia and explore its neurophysiological mechanism by investigating the change rule of BOLD-fMRI imaging during treatment. Method:From September 1, 2013 to December 26, 2013, 36 stroke hemiplegia patients were randomly and evenly divided into mirror therapy group ...
